The P-Shot - Using Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) to Treat Erectile Dysfunction and enhance erectile quality

The Priapus Shot, or P-Shot, harnesses the power of platelet-rich plasma - improving penile sensation, firmness and frequency of erections, and enhancing a man’s ability to maintain erections. The P-Shot also enhances the quality and size of erections - even for those men without ED and just looking to optimize performance.

Platelet Rich Plasma therapy (PRP) was originally a regenerative treatment popular for treating athletes with sports injuries - addressing ligamentitis, tendon issues, and degenerative joint issues. Taking into consideration its immense regenerative capabilities, PRP was then adopted to help men and women with various sexual function challenges. The P-Shot is a non-surgical approach that has been used for nearly a decade, resulting in enhanced sexual performance for thousands of patients worldwide.

The Benefits of the P-Shot

The P-shot incorporates Platelet Rich Plasma to mobilize local stem cells, which accelerates tissue regeneration and the formation of new vascular networks resulting in increased blood flow to the penis. The P-Shot harnesses the power of platelet-rich plasma, resulting in the following benefits:

  • Increases sensation and pleasure

  • Increases ability to maintain erections, or stamina

  • Increases the quality, and potentially the size, of erections

  • Improves strength and intensity of orgasms

  • Can potentially enhance the efficacy of other therapies like Viagra or Cialis

  • Treats Peyronie’s Disease (curved penis)

How The P-Shot Works

The PRP treatment used specifically for men’s erectile dysfunction - or the P-Shot - involves separating out the growth factors in your own blood, and then re-injecting your super-charged plasma back into your body. The PRP mobilizes local stem cells and growth factors, which accelerate collagen formation, tissue regeneration and the formation of new vascular networks.

What To Expect

This extremely safe procedure takes under an hour and patients feel little to no discomfort. A blood sample will be taken from your arm and placed in a special centrifuge to separate out your plasma, which is then carefully drawn into a syringe. A numbing cream is applied to the treatment area and a local anesthetic is also provided for ultimate comfort. The injections are given with a small needle and then you’re done!

Pain is rarely reported, there is little or no downtime following the procedure and there are little or no known side effects. Dr. Kass learned the procedure from the inventor of the P-Shot and is one of the few practitioners thoroughly trained and certified in the specialized PRP protocols.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Is the procedure painful?

A. Because we use a numbing solution and a local anesthetic, we have never had patients complain of any pain during or following the procedure.

Q. How many injections are delivered?

A. Generally a patient received injections on five sites along the shaft of the penis.

Q. How many P-Shots do I need?

A. While there are no good clinical studies on this topic, we typically find that patients who have two P-Shots in the span of five months recognize optimal results.

Q. Should I combine P-Shots with shockwave therapy?

A. We generally recommend that patients consider a shockwave therapy series along with the P-Shots to enhance erectile function. Shockwave is well supported by medical literature and combines synergistically with P-Shots.

Q. How long does the procedure take?

A. Patients are generally in the office for one hour. Most of this time is spent discussing the treatment, applying proper numbing numbing protocols and preparing the PRP. The injections themselves take only a few minutes.

Q. Is there any pain or downtime after the P-Shot?

A. Patients generally do not experience any pain during or after the procedure and they are encouraged to be sexually active as soon as they are ready.

Q. What is the required aftercare?

A. We strongly recommend patients use our vacuum device (penis pump) protocol following PRP treatments. We suggest patients use a medical vacuum device twice a day for ten minutes for two weeks following the procedure. Patients are coached on how to properly apply this exercise at the time of their visit.

Q. Is there anything I need to do to prepare for the P-Shot?

A. Patients must avoid any nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDS) two weeks before and two weeks following the P-Shot. NSAIDS negatively impact the efficacy of PRP and can compromise the outcome of your treatment - so avoiding these is essential.

Q. Will there be any scarring or bruising?

A. During the eight years we’ve been performing this procedure, scarring has never occurred. Mild bruising is a possibility.

Q. When can I expect to see results?

A. Some men experience results within days. Most patients will see results within a few weeks with maximum benefits appreciated after three full months.

Q. How long do the results last?

A. Results typically last six months to one year - occasionally longer.

Q. Am I a good candidate?

A. Most men looking for enhanced sexual performance can benefit from this procedure. It is especially advantageous for men who struggle with loss of size and quality of erections, decline in firmness of erections and Peyronie’s Disease.

The P-Shot is one of several treatments we offer to address ED and can be used in conjunction with other therapies such as Shockwave therapy and testosterone replacement therapy for optimal outcomes.
