Erectile Dysfunction: The Power of The P Shot

Because so many men are concerned about their sexual health, we have written extensively about sexual dysfunction.  As outlined in our main post on the subject, there are several challenges men face when it comes to sexual health - with approximately 52% of men reporting some level of erectile dysfunction (ED).  Thankfully, there are a number of safe and effective treatment options that can address various issues.

One such solution that my patients find particularly effective is the Priapus Shot, or P-Shot. Clinically proven and non-surgical, the P-Shot has been used for nearly a decade. There are two categories of patients who can benefit from PRP treatment or the P-shot: patients who are experiencing erectile dysfunction and those who might not experience dysfunction but who may want to optimize the quality or size of their erections.

The P-Shot - What it Does

As men age, so many struggle with a decrease in sensation, frequency, and stamina of their erections. Harnessing the power of platelet-rich plasma (PRP), the P-shot can bring about the following benefits:

  • Increased sensation and pleasure

  • Enhanced ability to maintain erections or stamina

  • Increased quality, and potentially the size, of erections

  • Improved strength and intensity of orgasms

  • Can potentially enhance the efficacy of other therapies like Viagra or Cialis

  • Can help mitigate Peyronie’s Disease plaques (curved penis)

The P-Shot - How It Works

Platelet Rich Plasma therapy (PRP) was originally a regenerative treatment popular for treating athletes with sports injuries - addressing ligament issues, tendonitis, and degenerative joint issues. Taking into consideration its immense regenerative capabilities, PRP was then adopted to help men and women with various sexual function challenges.

The PRP treatment used specifically for men’s erectile dysfunction - or the P-Shot - involves separating out the growth factors in your own blood, and then re-injecting your super-charged plasma back into your body. The PRP mobilizes local stem cells and growth factors, which accelerate collagen formation, tissue regeneration and the formation of new vascular networks. This results in increased blood flow to the penis and stronger, more reliable, and more frequent erections.

What To Expect

The P-Shot is a simple, in-office procedure that takes approximately 30-45 minutes. A blood sample will be taken from your arm and placed in a special centrifuge to separate out your platelet-rich plasma, which is then carefully drawn into a syringe. A numbing cream is applied to the treatment area and a local anesthetic is also provided for ultimate comfort. The injections are given with a small needle and then you’re safe to drive yourself home following the procedure.

There is no real downtime - sexual activity can be resumed on the same day. In fact, anything that brings more blood flow to the area is encouraged. Dr. Kass has a specific aftercare protocol that involves a male vacuum device and microdosing of Viagra or Cialis following the procedure.

While some men experience results immediately, most patients will see results within a few weeks with maximum benefits appreciated after three full months. 75% of men report satisfactory benefits. Pain is rarely reported and there are little or no known side effects. Dr. Kass learned the procedure from the inventor of the P-Shot and is one of the few practitioners thoroughly trained and certified in the specialized PRP protocols.

An Integrative Solution

I am a strong proponent of the P-Shot because it can address elements underlying erectile dysfunction. Dr. Kass has performed nearly one thousand P-Shots since 2013 and has found it to an effective tool for male patients.  The P-Shot is one of several treatments we offer to address ED and can be used in conjunction with other therapies such as GAINSWave therapy and testosterone replacement therapy for optimal outcomes.
